Saturday's Doctor Who

From February...

You will never guess where I've been this week.... Back in time to 1953 with Dr Who and Rose Tyler as they landed in the Tardis two streets away from where I live in Cardiff!

Yep, that's right! It's the first(?) episode of the next series and I was behind the camera! I got Billie Piper and David Tennant's autographs and I got some pics as well! I haven't got them on my computer as yet, but you'll see them!

They do a lot of filming in Cardiff and Swansea. It was really cool. The whole street was decorated in red, white and blue bunting and union flags were displayed on the lamp posts and everything. It's set in the time of the Queen's coronation celebrations.

I can't wait until it's on. It was so great and I know two people in particular who are so jealous! You know who you are!

That was a really rubbish episode! It was nice to be able to say "I saw them filming that bit" but I was really disappointed. I know Doctor Who is fiction anyway, but it was stupid! Maybe my expectations were higher for this episode because I'd seen it being made...?
Oh well, it's not every day you see a Tardis in your street! At least I've got that story to tell.

The interview!

Well, I think it went ok. They're taking on a few trainees so I might have a chance despite not having shorthand OR the actual qualification yet. Some people applying have already got their NCTJ pre-lims.

What do YOU think the most prominent story has been in the last 10 days? I think I went too obvious and said the whole Government saga and all the surrounding issues come out before and after the reshuffle. Maybe I could've been a bit more obscure? They asked how I'd deal with a death knock as well.

Well, there's not much I can do now. I'll hear the result in about 2 weeks.

Well, I didn't get the job. Obviously it wasn't the right one for me. There'll be more to come (I hope)!

An interview...

I couldn't believe it when they rang me but I've got an interview at The Eastern Daily Press in Norwich next week. It's covers Norfolk, east Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, which wasn't the first place in mind, but who cares.

Norfolk is where my Mum was born, so it's a bit weird that I might end up back where she left to join the WRNs when she was 18. She has never gone back there to live, but most of my aunts, uncles and cousins are still there. I couldn't really see myself there, but a job's a job.

Well I haven't got the job yet, so I'll keep you posted!
