Is driving necessary?

We've got 2 options for the future....

or...

One thing I am really struggling with at work is not being able to pop out to my patch whenever I want, i.e. without having to wait for the bus which goes every hour which messes up my day and controls when I have to stop/start writing a story. I have to wait to catch a bus and then wait for one to come back. By the time I've done that there's hardly time to write my story. It's so annoying and the only thing that gets me down about having epilepsy!

But should I be worrying? How long will it be until public transport is the norm? I was surprised to find my Mum has been converted to Park and Ride! She used it over the Christmas shopping period, it's cheaper and not really that bad.

I wrote a story this week about a new development in Aylesbury - yes another one! As well as 3 schools, 3,000 houses and loads of other stuff, they are hopefully going to build a new railway station and park and ride terminal. Both are the first of a series. They want about 4 park and rides around the town and also extend the railway line to rejoin the west-east rail link. My question to all the officials at the meeting was "I'm already a public transport convert. How are you going to persuade everyone else it's the best option?"

I think in about 10-15 years' time the attitude towards people driving to work on their own will be like the attitude people have towards smoking today. About 20 years ago it was acceptable to smoke in restaurants, work places and other public areas but now smokers are in the minority and in July there will be no smoking in bars and pubs in England.
Public transport is the alternative and as more people use it the more money the Government and train/bus companies spend on it. So go out there and use public transport! It's the way forward!

It's the 12th already!

Well, Happy New Year, although its a bit belated now...

Christmas and New year have gone and I still feel like I need a break. It's January, what else can I expect. Well it's not that bad. I've got loads of stories to write, but just not enough time to write them, even on a weekly newspaper.

So "what stories has the New year brought to Aylesbury so far?" I hear you cry. (Well you might want to know)

The juicy ones I didn't cover:
A guy survived after 'falling' onto the rail line just when a train was coming. He had both his legs amputated. His family said it wasn't a suicide attempt and he was 'brave'
A human skull found in woods
A bank employee increased his own overdraft to about £48,000

The not so juicy ones I am covering...
A relatively new leisure centre loses 20,000 customers
An improving open prison is over crowded... surprise, surprise. I'm having a tour round it though for a feature piece, which I'm looking forward to
Plans being considered for a horse incinerator to be built in a small village called Steeple Claydon
The pub is the last property to be added to a 2,300 home development and the parish council want the residents to name it... They've had suggestions like "At long last" "The Broken Arms"!

We're nearly half way through January and I'm already knackered. What will I be like on the 31st?!
